Horsehoe Casino
Robinsonville, Mississippi
January 17 - 18, 2003

The T-Horns braved the elements once again to hook up with the mighty Temptations for two ferocious shows at the Horseshoe Casino in Robinsonville, Mississippi the weekend of January 17 - 18, 2003.

While the temperatures outside dipped near single digits, the "TEMPS" inside were cooking the crowds with pure energy and the T-Horns provided a 10 piece blowtorch that lit the fire.

The weekend set the perfect time for the Tuscaloosa Horns to collaborate with Buster Marbury, drummer for the Temptations.  Having already produced grammy projects in the past, Buster is producing his own CD project and the T-Horns have the honor of laying down the tracks for the single "Long Time, No See."

Chris and Buster discuss what can be added to a lick to
"fit the feel."

Chris Gordon and Mart Avant put their creative heads together to arrange a horn chart that is not only as fine as warm honey-butter but also strong enough to rip a New York City phone book in half.  Top it off with Kelly O'Neal's frightening soulful solos, and we promise that you will listen to this single over and over again.

Mart and Chris run the rehearsal while everybody tries to decipher Chris's "perfect" manuscript (he, he!).

Kelley lays down his solo and, as usual, it goes in the first take.

Buster lives in Kelley's solo while Chris and Mart become hypnotized.

Folks, if this single is any indication of what else is to come from this project, you will HAVE to pick up the first copy you see for it will NOT stay on the shelf for long.

Buster, your talents are like a diamond in the middle of a coal field.  Thanks for letting the Tuscaloosa Horns be a part of your "baby."

Buster sits in his "temple" before he meditates.

Above:  Saxes, Buster and Brass listen down the track for any blemishes.  The recording has to be perfect.  Frank's ear ensures the mix is just right.

It can not go without mention that the Tuscaloosa Horns are blessed with some wonderful friends.  We saw familiar faces from Montgomery, Aliceville, and some of the gang from the "Class of '65" band out of Vernon and Fayette, AL.  A deep and sincere thank you goes to Bob Moody and his son Chris, both of whom flew in from Houston on such short notice, to be part of this special weekend.  Without all of your love and support, this opportunity to do what we enjoy would not be worth it.  Thank you to everybody for going way out of your way to be there!             J.
